Lakewood Ranch Digital Photography Club
Vision and Mission
Like most folks I know, my interest in photography started as a hobby. Eventually it evolved into a full-time job as I gained more experience and confidence in the craft. Portraiture stood out as my choice of genres in the business of photography. Probably, the main reason for sticking with portrait photography is due to its requisite for constant refinement. After 24 years of tinkering with camera gear, I am happy to admit that I am close to 'getting it right.' The honeymoon of photography has long since come and gone, and all that remains is a forward interest in fulfilling the long standing tenants of photography and serving the clients entrusted to me.
As technology advances, it continues to offer today’s photographer a growing arsenal of tools. The incoming parade of gadgets for our camera bags seems to have no end in sight. As a result, today’s photographer needs to become familiar and learn how to make good use of this new technology. Among the many tools available in the market place for photographers today are small flash units and portable studio strobes. This presentation will cover the differences between the smaller flash units also knows as 'speedlights' and the larger portable studio strobes. Specifically, we will discuss the possibilities and limitations of each one of these types of light sources. We will also explore their practical use and answer the most common questions asked by users in the field.
