Topic: Personal Photography Project.
Club president Jennifer Walker will discuss her foray into personal projects. Topics include finding a topic, exploring, having fun, building skills, settling on a way of sharing the project, and the decisions needed to bring an idea to fruition.

Thomas Carabasi: Photographer, Educator, Musician.

Thomas is Chair of the Photography and Imaging at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Bio

Thomas Carabasi earned a BA in Art History from Princeton University and an MFA in Photography from Temple University, Tyler School of Art. He started teaching at Ringling College in 1991 and is currently chair of the Photography and Imaging Department.

He has over 30 years of professional experience as an artist, educator and musician and has also been an instructor and guest lecturer and at the International Center for Photography in New York City since 1982. He is the recipient of grants from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts and Australian Council of the Arts and since 2009 has developed workshops, exhibitions and projects with students and faculty from Belgium, Finland, England, Germany and Costa Rica.

His work has been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions including Art Basel, Miami, The Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Arizona, Photo Eye, Santa Fe, New Mexico and the Accademia di Bella Arti, Bologna, Italy. His collections include The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Center for Creative Photography, The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, The Princeton University Art Museum and the Museo Ken Damy in Milan, Italy.

Since the mid 90’s Thomas has also been an active jazz musician performing his blend of jazz and Brazilian music regularly in Sarasota and the Tampa Bay area.
