Education

The focus of our club’s education program is members teaching members. We offer classroom training twice a year for beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of proficiency. We also include two educational segments in each monthly meeting, and we maintain a list of recommended web-based learning resources here on this website by choosing "Membership" above and then clicking on the "Member Resources" tab. Naturally, we all learn from each other through our meetings, our field trips, our website, Facebook pages, our competition participation and from sharing our ideas through the 52-week photo challenge.

The October meeting is starting an hour later than normal. We will be sharing short clips on the Halloween monthly theme as well as any clips that you desire to share with the group. Also, we will discuss the planning process for the Videography Group project to produce a promo video/film showing all of the many activities and advantages of being a member of the LWRDPC. This will be a fun project for the group to put together.

Also, for those of you desiring to shoot some stills or video before the meeting, we will be meeting at 7:15am on Saturday, October 27th at the Town Hall to visit the Red Bug Slough off of Beneva Road. For those wanting to meet us there at the entrance, we should be there around 7:45 am. For those planning to make the meeting at 10am, we will be departing around 9:15ish. All others are welcome to stay as long as they wish.

The December meeting will include a presentation by Keith Jackson, called "Preserving Family History". It will be an in-depth look at a large variety of approaches to preserving family histories. Keith will show you how to organize historical materials, then create DVDS, etc with photos, movies, videos and documents. Keith has a wealth of experience ranging from the early days of silent 8mm family histories up to projects for museums and historical societies.

Following Keith's presentation, we will review short clips for criteria and group learning
