The 2026 FCCC 2nd Triannual Print Competition

This is a great opportunity to have your work judged in competition with 50 other Florida photography clubs. Every member of the LWRDPC is eligible to be a member of FCCC at no cost.

Submit the digital version your images at: https://f3c.org/competition/enter/

If you are not yet registered with the FCCC, go to https://f3c.org, click "Join Now," complete the form, and wait for the FCCC to confirm your club membership. You will then be able to enter their competitions.

FCCC requests that you use Regular Capitalization rules for the Titles of their print images; no all lower case and no all upper case (NO ALL CAPS) letters.

In order for the Club to coordinate the drop off and mailing of prints to FCCC, we need to know how many members plan to enter this competition. Please register here to indicate your intent to enter this Print Competition.

Drop off instructions will be included in the registration confirmation email once you complete your registration here.

This User Group will share shortcuts, techniques, and tips for Adobe’s Lightroom (CC and Classic editions) editing software. Fourth Wednesday of the month.

Hands-On Training: "Edit My Photo" Workshop

Join in on another post-processing classroom learning lab with Art Napolitano where participants will follow along on their laptops as he leads the process of how he would edit photos.

Art will share his screen so participants can do their own editing as they follow him through the entire session. Facilitators will float around to assist participants. Together, the group can edit or follow along as each image is transformed.

Notice: This workshop is geared toward individuals who desire to improve their post-processing skills in Lightroom Classic or Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.

Everyday People Engaged in Everyday Activities

Capture * Catch * Create

Introduction: Photography doesn’t stop when you leave town. For members traveling seasonally or exploring far beyond our local area, the quarterly Capture * Catch * Create challenges offer a way to stay inspired and engaged wherever the road leads. Open to participation from anywhere in North America or abroad, these creative challenges are designed to encourage photographers to hopefully see the world around them differently and encourage them to possibly step outside their usual comfort zones and create images or people, subjects and places they’ve perhaps ignored in the past.

Objective/Challenge: Capturing images of people whose everyday activities are all-too-often go unnoticed by most people ... yet have profound and positive impacts on our lives. The challenge is to capture some of those people and moments. This can be a unique opportunity to perfect your "candid" or "street" photography skills.

When:  Photos must be taken between July 1^st and July 31^st.

Where:  Wherever you are at home, traveling throughout North America or elsewhere across the globe.

Registration: You are not required to register for this “on-your-own" field trip. However, to get the most out of it please register for the post-event Zoom meeting (details below).

Upload: Up to three (3) of your most interesting, colorful and/or creative photos on or before Monday, August 17^th by clicking on link: Upload

Post Field Trip Zoom Meeting: A follow-up Zoom meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 at 6:30 PM to share, review, and discuss the Everyday People Engaged in Everyday Activities photos submitted by participants. This will also be an opportunity to talk about any challenges encountered during the field trip or photo selection process. A separate email with the registration link and final meeting details will be sent in late July.

Suggested Equipment:

Camera:  Mirrorless, DSLR, or Cellphone

Lenses:  Fast (ideally f/1.4, f/2.8 or f/4) 14-30 mm wide angle and/or 24-105 mm zoom or fixed focal length lenses.

Accessories;

> Extra Batteries and Memory Cards:  Never miss an opportunity.

> Filters: UV or Polarizing filters can be helpful depending on the ambient lighting and its direction relative to your shooting position.

> An Air Blower and Microfiber Cloths: to remove dust from lenses in dusty city environments.

Plan to travel light as too much gear can attract unwanted attention and causes fatigue, limiting your ability to find, and capture, candid moments.

Short videos filmed by participants are presented and critiqued to help with the learning process. Equipment information and techniques are shared and a very informal and helpful environment lends to helping everyone improve their skill level

The Theme is "Summertime Fun"

Show the joy and energy of summer. Think beach days, picnics, outdoor festivals, water play, or kids running through sprinklers. Look for vibrant colors, movement, and light that conveys carefree days, and warm evenings filled with laughter and adventure. Think warmth, energy, and playfulness-the little joys that define summer living.

Upload your image before 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8.

We have a new competition software/site! One-time registration is required.

Submittal requirements are as follows:

One image per member.
Digital image file:
- High quality JPG or PNG file.
- 1920 x 1080px is the recommended miniumum size..
- Quality setting: 85+ in Lightroom, high in Photoshop, or similar in other programs.
- Color Space: sRGB
- 2 Mb maximum file size.
Criteria judged will be the overall impact, composition of elements, technical aspects, and adherence to the theme. It is important to keep the theme in mind when choosing your image.
Scoring by judges will be on a 20-point scale: 19-20 Excellent; 16-18 Stands Out; 13-15 Meets many criteria; 10-12 Meets some criteria; 6-9 Meets few criteria; 1-5 Missed the mark.
The file name is your image title. Make sure the title reflects your image, and does not contain your name or anything else that identifies you as the maker. Choose a title carefully. A good title will complement the image.
Challenge yourself and have fun.

Share Your Work Submission Deadline (July 10, 2026)

Share Your Work Submittal

Submit up to three photos each month to be included in a slide presentation that will be shown at the next General Meeting and on the club's SmugMug site. Photos can be about any subject.

Submit Share Your Work images from your computer.

Submit Share Your work images from your phone or tablet.

Any submissions received late will automatically be carried over to the following month.

Registration is not required. Just click on the link above to submit your photos.

Each member is allowed to send up to 3 photos and/or a short video each month. Those photos and/or video can be on any subject as this is a great way to let other members see what kind of photography interests you, and what you have been shooting during the past month.

Please try to adjust your photos to at least 1920 pixels on the horizontal edge, if you can. If you are not sure how to do that just send them anyway. If there is a problem with their size, Dave Kurshan will let you know and walk you through the process of how to resize your photos.

Dawn/Sunrise, Breakfast and Mote SEA Field Trip (July 11, 2026)

Sunrise over Mote Science Education Aquarium, with breakfast at The Breakfast Company, then back to Mote SEA to capture marine life.

7:30am - for breakfast at The Breakfast Company, 8491 Cooper Creek Blvd, 3-5 minute drive from Mote (optional)
9:15am - Meet on the sidewalk near the entrance to Mote SEA for 9:30 am entry

Where: If coming for dawn/sunrise, meet at the Mote sidewalk area on the west side of the pond - see PhotoPills screenshot. If coming for 9:30am entry to Mote, meet on the sidewalk near the entry.

What: 146,000-square-foot marine science and education facility located at Nathan Benderson Park

What to Expect:

Begin with photographing the sun rise over Mote SEA (sun rises at 6:43 am).

Next, we will eat breakfast at the Breakfast Company located at 8491 Cooper Creek Blvd, Unit 107 (a 3-to-5-minute drive from Mote SEA). After breakfast, we will head back to Mote SEA for a 9:30 am entry to capture vibrant marine life-like manatees, sharks, Humboldt penguins, jellyfish, and a giant Pacific octopus through two-story viewing windows and immersive touch tanks.

Explore interactive galleries, experience virtual reality, and listen to audio tours of the habitats.

Enjoy three levels of exhibits, including a massive 400,000-gallon habitat that lets visitors walk beneath swimming sharks, rays, and sea turtles.

Hours: The Aquarium is open 9:30 am-5:00 pm daily

Pricing: Adults-$32; Mote Members-Free

It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance to reserve your spot. Refer to the Mote Science Education Aquarium Website for ticket details at mote.org.

Directions and Parking: Follow your GPS to the free parking lot on the west side of the property located at 225 University Town Center Drive, Sarasota.

Recommended Equipment:

Camera (Mirrorless, DSLR or even Cellphone)

Wide angle lens for sunrise and outdoor photos of the building

24-70, 100-400 or similar lens to capture marine life inside the building

Black silicone lens hood to reduce glare/reflections through aquarium glass (optional)

Tripod*

ND or polarizing Filters for sunrise (optional)

Water

*Restrictions: Flash photography is prohibited inside Mote. Monopods and tripods are permitted as long as walkways are not blocked.

Shooting Tips:

Sunrise over Mote: Plan your angles in advance, to get your desired dramatic light and shadow play.

Try bracketing your exposure with 3-5 shots at different exposures, then blend them later during post processing.

Watch your Histogram; expose your shots so the histogram pushes to the right without touching the edge, ensuring you capture maximum details of the building.

Set your aperture between f/8 and f/11 while keeping your ISO between 100-400 to minimize image noise. For sunburst use f/18-f/22.

Use a sturdy tripod, emphasize scale with foreground elements and seek reflections for added interest.

Inside Mote SEA: Shoot in Manual Mode with a fast shutter speed, bump up your ISO, and use a lens with a wide aperture. Shoot your lens as close to the glass as possible, or at a strict 45-degree angle, or use a black silicone lens hood to eliminate unwanted glare.

New to Photography? Don’t hesitate to ask for help with your camera settings —We all started somewhere and we’ve been in your shoes.

In this live demonstration, Pamela Parmenter will show how a single light source can create powerful, painterly low-key portraits filled with depth, drama, and emotion.

Using simple materials-mylar paper for reflection, flowing fabric, a dark backdrop, and one carefully placed continuous light - Pamela will demonstrate how to sculpt the human form, shape fabric with highlights and shadow, and create movement that transforms a portrait into

fine art.

How one light can create dramatic low-key imagery

Using shadow intentionally to sculpt the body

Lighting fabric to reveal folds, texture, and dimensional depth

Creating reflective surfaces with mylar for visual impact

The Theme is "Nature's Patterns"

Nature is full of repeating shapes, textures, and rhythms. The veins of a leaf, rippling sand dunes, shells, bird feathers, tree bark, or geological layers. The artistry of patterns can be bold and graphic or subtle and intricate. Your challenge is to frame them in a way that feels both natural and visually striking. Show how nature organizes itself into stunning and surprising visual harmony.

Upload your image before 5:00 pm on Wednesday, August 5.

We have a new competition software/site! One-time registration is required.

Registered: If you are already registered with the new competition software/site at pixoroo.com, click here to submit your Digital Image of the Month photo.

Not Registered: If you have NOT yet registered with the new competition software/site at pixoroo.com, click here for registration information. Note: you will only have to register one time.

Submittal requirements are as follows:

One image per member.
Digital image file:
- High quality JPG or PNG file.
- 1920 x 1080px is the recommended miniumum size..
- Quality setting: 85+ in Lightroom, high in Photoshop, or similar in other programs.
- Color Space: sRGB
- 2 Mb maximum file size.
Criteria judged will be the overall impact, composition of elements, technical aspects, and adherence to the theme. It is important to keep the theme in mind when choosing your image.
Scoring by judges will be on a 20-point scale: 19-20 Excellent; 16-18 Stands Out; 13-15 Meets many criteria; 10-12 Meets some criteria; 6-9 Meets few criteria; 1-5 Missed the mark.
The file name is your image title. Make sure the title reflects your image, and does not contain your name or anything else that identifies you as the maker. Choose a title carefully. A good title will complement the image.

The Videography Group's purpose is to educate members in the art of videography for the purpose of complementing still images or producing stand alone videos to document an event or occasion. No previous training is necessary.

The Videography Meetings involve presentations on some aspect of Videography that will assist members to enhance their skills at planning, producing and editing videos. All skill levels are welcome.

Short videos filmed by participants are presented and critiqued to help with the learning process. Equipment information and techniques are shared and a very informal and helpful environment lends to helping everyone improve their skill level

Having a strong and engaging portfolio is crucial in the world of photography. It is your primary tool for showing your abilities, style, and unique approach to making photos.

Focus on the type of imagery that you believe will make you stand out from the competition.
A good portfolio is not a mishmash of photos taken over a couple of years and cobbled together.
Take your time, your portfolio should show consistency from image to image and show of your style.
When you are photographing, take as many different approaches to the subject as you can.
